Kavita Kaur (also known as Kavita Sidhu) is best known as one of the most successful local model in the late 1980s. Born on November 29, 1971, this classic beauty lass is from Punjabi ancestry.

Perhaps, she is more popularly known as the first Malaysian to clinch an international beauty pageant title. She first made headlines in 1990 after winning Miss Charm International title. Of course, being the first Malaysian to clinch such title enables her to be listed in Malaysia Book of Records.

Following her success in the beauty pageant, she took a further step and later joined modeling. Since she joined modeling in later 1980s (when she was still studying), Kavita Kaur @ Kavita Sidhu became a household name as one of the earliest Malaysian supermodel. She is a familiar face in various fashion shows and many photographers aim to capture her magic on film.

Her first modeling job was in Paris when she turned 18. Realizing fashion is a serious business; Kavita learnt the hard way to work in modeling industry. She has also represented Escada in a 2002 spring summer collection fashion show. Often described as a photogenic model, Kavita Sidhu is indeed a beauty with various modeling jobs since her inception in early 1990s.

Besides modeling, Kavita has also spent time expanding her life-long career in media line. She landed herself in several local productions such as Mimpi Moon, Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam and Layar Lara. Her ability to speak both languages – English and Malay allows Kavita to work in English production dramas as well as Malay movies.

She also joined theatre productions of Fat Girl’s Revenge staged by talented actors from The Actors Studio. Kavita had tried her hands to become a television host and producer for several programmes.

She hosted and co-produced Gaya TV for Astro with another talented Malaysian personality, Afdlin Shauki in 1996. Subsequently, Kavita hosted Talking Heads (RTM’s production). Since Kavita knew modeling is a financially rewarding career, she pushed herself harder to achieve and realize her then objectives.

She was the cover girl for several local magazines – Female, Her World, Wanita and Jelita. Her fair complexion helped to clinch several contracts with advertisers. Not only in print media, Kavita also starred in Palmolive commercial in late 1980s. But Kavita’s most outstanding feature is perhaps her height. Standing at 180cm, Kavita is a famous name on fashion stage.
